Summary
Wound dressings act as a protective barrier, and polysaccharide biopolymers have gained attention for their therapeutic potential in wound therapy. Bioactive qualities like anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antioxidant properties, aid the healing process. This review discusses the design and functions of suitable bio-adhesive films for wound healing, highlighting various polysaccharides, as well as clinical performance and future challenges, including their potential use in three-dimensional bioprinting for advanced wound care.
